LongLake International Festival 2013, that closed on 21 July 2013, was a great success from all points of view: audience, artistic quality and an excellent ROI, just to name some.
Even the weather was cooperative after a long period of rain and the audience could enjoy all open-air events throughout the Festival. Last year the LongLake Festival went far beyond all expectations and the year 2013 will stay engraved in memories for a long, long time. In four weeks about 300,000 people attended the over 300 free events organized at 70 different locations.
The outstanding success of LongLake and its 6 Festivals, that during one month give life to one of the most intense free urban open airs, confirm Lugano as an international pole of attraction.
LongLake Festival 2013 in figures:
• 31 days of free events
• over 300 events (including those proposed by LongLake plus)
• over 700 artists from all over the world
• an average of 10 events every day
• over 70 locations (including the bars and clubs of LongLake plus)
• 40 bars and clubs
• 500 working youths
• costs reduced by 10% compared to the previous year
• over 650,000 people joined via web during the Festival
• over 3,500 people downloaded the App of the Festival
“LongLake has become an important appointment for Lugano”, states Claudio Chiapparino, the Director of the Festival. “It is thanks to the high quality line-up as well as to the variety and accessibility of its programme that the Festival gained such a great success in only three years. A winning formula that spread far beyond the local boundaries thanks to an innovative and dynamic strategy, confirming Lugano as an attractive tourist destination that offers free shows for a whole month”.
“We are convinced that tourists, after appreciating our varied cultural proposals, shall be tempted to come back, perhaps in other periods of the year, also rich with events. The turmoil and atmosphere created by the Festival can only evolve and develop further. The credit of this success goes to the entire team and to the many youths involved in the organization of the Festival. Without their commitment and enthusiasm all this wouldn’t have been possible. Together, we are already working on the next festival to be held in the summer of 2014, with new ideas and new spurs.”
The brand new “Friends of LongLake Festival” initiative was also a great success. We would like to thank the numerous FRIENDS who supported and helped our initiative by joining the great LongLake family. The support came also from people living in other countries and their precious contributions will help us organize the new Festival.
All the collected funds will be used to employ youths during the Festival and to invite international performers as well as young talented artists. All this maintaining a high quality line-up and cultural events easily accessible to all, local residents and tourists. It is still possible to become a Friend of LongLake and support the festival allowing us to maintain a free entrance to the events.
