The poet, musician and enfant terrible Alabaster DePlume knows how to use words as skilfully as the harmonic melodies of his saxophone. Alabaster DePlume is a Manchester-born, London-based bandleader, composer, saxophonist, activist and orator too. He’s a resident at the legendary London creative hub Total Refreshment Centre, a recording artist fort he off-grid, Scotish Hebridean island label Lost Map, and now the latest arrival into Chicago-based International Anthem’s growing family of progressive musical explorationists. Alabaster DePlume already has a reputation for particularly joyful and spontaneous live shows. His band changes the teammates regularly and that’s what makes the whole thing so exciting. Recently, the project has included Rozi Plain, Ichi, Sarathy Korwar, Leafcutter John and Snapped Ankles, Yama Warashi, The Moulletes, Melt Yourself Down and Flamingods and The Comet is Coming.
