The piano paraphrase of the famous Quartet Bella figlia dell’amore, made by Liszt, is much more than a simple transcription. Rigoletto’s rage and Gilda’s pain fade away, swallowed up by the vortex of the duet between the Duke of Mantua and Maddalena, the protagonists of a beautiful idyll. The scene has the features and the outlines of a vision that, thanks to the magic of the sounds, portrays the timeless dream of eternal love.
