A BIT OF HISTORY
Estival Jazz was born from an idea of Jacky Marti and Andreas Wyden in the late ’70s, picking up the legacy of the Lugano Jazz Club, which in 1962 had launched the first international jazz festival in Switzerland, which took place for several seasons at the Apollo Theater in Lugano. After the first concerts in Trevano, in 1979 Marti and Wyden organized the first edition of Estival Jazz in Piazza della Riforma, expressing a philosophy that has been maintained over the years: to bring high-quality artistic concerts to Lugano and offer them for free to the public.
